When an agent is first created, it's a generalist — like a new employee on day one. It can do everything, but knows nothing about your business, your style, your clients. IDENTITY.md and SOUL.md are what transform a generalist agent into your personal specialist.

What is IDENTITY.md

IDENTITY.md is the agent's passport. This is where you describe who it is and what it does.

What to write in IDENTITY.md:

• The agent's name and role
• What tasks it performs
• What tasks it does NOT perform
• Key information about your business that the agent needs to do its job

Example without IDENTITY.md:

You ask the agent to reply to an incoming client email. The agent writes something generic and formal, with no idea who you are, what you do, or what tone you use.
